Kareena Kapoor Biography

Born on 21st September 1980 in the city of Mumbai, India, Kareena Kapoor is born into the first family of Bollywood – the Kapoors. She is the youngest daughter of actors Babita and Randhir Kapoor; Karishma Kapur wife of Sanjay Kapur is her elder sister and also a very successful actress. She is great granddaughter of Prithviraj Kapoor; granddaughter of film maker and actor Raj Kapoor and niece of actors Rajeev Kapoor and Rishi Kapoor.

Popularly known as Bebo; Kareena Kapoor is Sindhi from her maternal side and Punjabi from her Paternal side. As per Bebo, her name “Kareena” is derived from a book called Anna Karenina, which her mom read while she was pregnant with her. Kareena even as a kid had strong aspirations of becoming an actress and was inspired by watching films of Bollywood actresses such as Meena Kumari and Nargis. Kareena studied in Mumbai in Jamnabai Narsee School before moving to Dehradun to Welham Girls Boarding School and did her college from Mithibai College in Mumbai. Bebo a lot of times referred herself as spoilt and a very naughty child and as a kid would dress herself up in her mom’s clothes and perform.

Even though the Kapoors family background is engraved in Film Industry today, her father Randhir Kapoor was not too keen on his wife working in films post marriage as he feels that would led to conflict on her responsibilities towards home, kids and married life. This led to separation between her parents with Babita moving out of her house with both her daugthers – Karishma and Kareena. Post her parents separation; she lived in Lokhandwala with her sister and mother and was raised by her mother who worked many jobs to support her daughters till debuted of Karishma as an actress in the year 1991.

Kareena acting debut was in the year 2000 in the movie named Refugee opposite Abhishek Bachchan. She is at the moment dating Saif Ali Khan and they are considering tying the knot soon. Kareena has worked in many movies over the years and is considered one of the most powerful actress today.
