Lata Mangeshkar is a well known singer of India. There will be hardly anyone who is interested in Indian music and does not know about her. Lata Mangeshkar was born on September 29 in the year 1929. Till now, she has sung a large number of songs. She inspires a lot of youngsters who wish to be a singer. Her voice is magical. All the songs which have been sung by her are melodious.

It was in the year 1942 that Lata Mangeshkar started her career as a playback singer. She has recorded songs for more than a 1000 Indian movies. She has recorded songs in various languages. Asha Bhosle, who is another popular singer of India, is her sister. Lata Mangeshkar has bagged a large number of awards till now. Bharat Ratna is the most prestigious award which she has received till now in India.

Her name exists in Guinness Book of World Records as she has recorded maximum number of songs between 1974 and 1991. According to the resources, she has recorded around 30,000 songs from 1948 to 1987. In the year 1955, Lata Mangeshkar composed music for a movie for the first time. In the decade of 1960, she composed music for several Marathi movies. While doing so, she used another name i.e. Anand Ghan.

Apart from singing and composing, she also tried her hands in production of movies. Vaadal was the first movie which was produced by her in the year 1953. She is also known as the Nightingale of India. Very less people know that she attended school only for a single day but she has been given Honorary Doctorate by 6 Universities from all over the world. She respects her profession so much that she sings barefoot to show respect for the ground where she sings. No doubt, Lata Mangeshkar makes her country feel proud.
