Kishore kumar, the Legend
Kishore Kumar is a legend of Indian film industry. No matter how much has been written or said in his praise; it is still very less. He was born on 29TH August, 1929. He was a great playback singer who sang a large number of songs. His voice was melodious and his songs still set the right mood at different times. He was a very talented and gifted person. Apart from singing; he also did acting, composing, lyrics writing, screen writing, script writing, production and direction. Kishore Kumar sang numerous songs in different languages like Bengali, Hindi and Oriya etc.
As a playback singer, he won a large number of awards. He bagged eight film fare awards as a playback singer. The original name of Kishore Kumar was Abhas Kumar. At first, he started his career in Mumbai by singing in Chorus. In the year 1946, he did his first film as an actor. In the year 1948, he was given a chance to sing for a film. Till 1949, Kishore Kumar was unsure about settling in Mumbai but in 1949 he settled there for good. He was always wanted to focus only on singing but his elder brother Kishore Kumar who was an actor himself persuaded him to become an actor.
Kishore Kumar was also a fan of Alfred Hitchcock movies. He sang three hundred and twenty seven duets with legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. Only Mohammad Rafi has sung more duets than Kishore Kumar with Lata Mangeshkar. Whether it was a comic or a serious role; he did justice to all his roles as an actor. There are numerous fans of Kishore Kumar all over the world. He died on 13th October, 1987. However, his movies and songs have made him immortal. He was indeed one of the best artists of Indian film industry.
