Anushka Sharma Biography
Born in the city of Bangalore on 1st May 1988, Anushka Sharma's parents are originally from Garhwal, Uttarakhand. An army officer by profession, her father is Colonel Ajay Sharma and mother is Ashima Sharma, a housewife by profession. Anushka Sharma elder brother Karnesh is in Merchant Navy who was previously state level cricketer as well.
Anushka Sharma did schooling from Army School and she graduated from Bangalore from Mount Carmel College with honours in arts. At the age of 15, she began her formal modelling training from Prasad Bidapa, a renowned fashion consultant.
Post her studies, Anushka Sharma moved to Mumbai to pursue her career in modelling where she is currently residing. As per past statements given by Anushka, she mentioned she is more inclined to make it big in modelling world and not much inclined towards film industry. Her modelling career started as a model for Les Vamps Show for designer Wendell Rodricks at Lakme Fashion week. She was the finale model for Wendell Rodricks at Spring Summer 2007 Collection as well. Post this she has done many campaigns for Whisper, Fiat Palio, Silk and Shine and Nathella Jewellery amongst others.
Through the help of Elite Modelling agency, who had sent her Portfolio to casting directors of Aditya Chopra movies, she got her first break by Yash Raj Films opposite Badshah of Bollywood Shahrukh Khan in movie called Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi in the year 2008. For this movie, she got two award nominations by Filmfare – one nomination was in the category of “Best Actress Award” and the second nomination was in the category of “Best Debut Award – Female”.
Apart from this, Anushka Sharma also got nomination by Star Screen Award in the category of “Most Promising Newcomer- Female” and “Superstar of Tomorrow” nomination by Stardust. She won “Best Debut – Female” Apsara Awards and V. Shantaram Awards. She had a three movie contract with Yash Raj Films which ended with Band Baja Baarat.
